According to Maine Housing the median rent for a 2BR in Lincoln County apartment in 2020 including utilities was $1,029.  The annual income needed to afford that median apartment was $41,177 per year.  This equates to a full time job paying $19.80 per hour.  The Lincoln County renting household mean income is only $32,306 or the equivalent of $15.53 per hour.  There are also many families earning  less than mean income.  Since then, cost have skyrocketed.
